Although I am of Caucasian descent, it is like African-American hair, but not completely.
I like how it looks when I get out of a shower.
Is there a gel or method that would keep it like that without looking greasy?
If so, where could it be purchased? What's a good hair gel for mens curly hair?
I know exactly what kind of hair your talking about because my son has it, And it is the most gorgeous hair in the world! When my son was little he had beautiful locks of curls, The girls really love his hair now he's 16! The best gel I found for him is called ';softee'; it's a clear gel that comes in a tub, It's protein stying gel, You can find it in the black hair care section, It's really thick you just put some in your palm and distibute evenly throughout your hair, It will make your hair non-frizzy and your locks will come back and it will look just gorgeous! Also you can use biolage afterwards to make it softer. Please let me know what you think! What's a good hair gel for mens curly hair?
I'm a cosmetologist, and I have hair that sounds like yours, although mine is a lighter brown. I like the curls but don't like the frizz when it's too dry, and I don't like a lot of greasy, heavy product in my hair (NEVER use gel!)
While I am caucasian, I still use some ethnic products - I've found Care Free Curl to work really well. It is a non-greasy glycerin based lotion that comes in a yellowish bottle. It's at most WalMarts and it's cheap. You can put some in your palm and work it through after a shower, or put it in a spray bottle with a little water to use when your hair is dry. It keeps the curls active while keeping a moist (not greasy) look.
Avoid oil based products as they will actually DRY your hair in the long run(oil repels moisture).
Paul Mitchell foaming pomade. It takes a little while to get the hang of it, but it works pretty good.
Ask your stylist. They can give you more ideas.
Just get the dollar store gel...it's all the same
