It really bothered me when I got a haircut because I would spike it - which looks good - but then it would grow out to the point where I couldn't exactly spike it but I couldn't put it down either. Now my hair is in that in between point and i found that with the right gel (or by keeping the natural oils in your hair) that I can put it up just by running my hand through it. It's not a gelled look but a more natural style. This look best if the sides are still pretty short and the top is longer. I still feel very neat although I haven't had it cut in awhile. Hope I explained this well enough.
