What would be the reason for a 50 year old man, in fairly good health, to suddenly lose the hair on his legs?

Stress isn't the factor, although, he did have emergency hand surgery at about the same time. What would be the reason for a 50 year old man, in fairly good health, to suddenly lose the hair on his legs?
sometimes nerve damage will cause hair loss on the legs. Are you a diabetic? See your doctor for an evaluation. What would be the reason for a 50 year old man, in fairly good health, to suddenly lose the hair on his legs?
suddenly? peripheral vasc disease, but that's usually more gradual, not sure of time frame, could be related to surgery/stress/meds. wait to see if grows back, but, I would mention it to his physician/surgeon at the next visit. doesn't sound hormone related. any other symptoms?
Yes stress is a factor, and also clothes or his pants rubbing can do this. And also humans shed too so like eyebrows hair grows back in cycles.
